Tango de Nácar is a new show born from the collaboration of five of the most outstanding musicians in today’s tango scene.
Far beyond a traditional quintet, this ensemble represents a convergence of legacies: decades of experience, personal styles, and musical philosophies woven together to create something deeply new. Like nacre, formed layer by layer over time, Tango de Nácar is a sonic reflection of tango’s history and its ongoing evolution.
Drawing inspiration from the great masters of all times — Pugliese, Piazzolla, Troilo, Gobbi, Salgán, among others — and reimagining their works through original arrangements, the group explores the boundaries of tango and lets them dissolve naturally into other contemporary musical languages.
The result is not a rupture, but a deepening: a dialogue between eras, styles, and identities.
Tango de Nácar is more than a project. It is a luminous offering: a tribute to the soul of tango, reimagined by those who carry it in their blood.
The ensemble recorded their debut album, “Retratos,” released in July 2024, featuring original arrangements that combine sophistication, emotion, and a bold musical vision. (Listen here).
